The show kicks off on Friday 1st July with its first ever ‘Music Fest’ event (exclusively for the brave souls camping at the show) and will be hosted by River Dee Radio. First up are local lads ‘The Ruckus’ who promise to deliver a no-nonsense, guitar driven rock ‘n’ roll performance! We’ll be serving from 17:00 so be sure to ‘rock’ up early, grab a cold one and find a good spot to enjoy what promises to be an awesome night of live entertainment (including our top-notch bar banter

On Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd July, we’ll be serving a full range of local craft beers on tap and spirits within the Motor Display Area (A5 & M2 on the below map) from 10:00-16:00, so make sure you stop by and get a refreshment to take on your stroll around the show! The final Music Fest evening kicks off on Saturday 2nd July at 17:30 so we’ll see you there for more delightful drinks and live music from Arthur Coates Trio, Monza Express & The Sorries!

The Royal Deeside Motor Show is one of the largest gatherings of rare motors, including performance, classic, retro, contemporary, agri, leisure and heavy haulage! The show allows motor clubs to showcase their awesome motors in the display area as well as during the showcase parade!

During our initial search for small batch breweries to work with, Reids Gold stood out like a beacon of light and we wasted no time reaching out to see if they were keen to get on board. Barry’s response to our request was a simple but assured ‘definitely’ and in the same conversation we were introduced to his list of awesome craft beers. After our initial chat, it took us Devenick lads a few more months to get our business ready for trading, but as soon as we were, we took receipt of our first batch of Reids Gold and added them to our online shop – and they were an instant hit, with the likes of ‘Coconut Cookie’, ‘Stonehaven Fireballs’ and ‘North Sea Haar’ going down well with our newly found customer base.

The Back-Story:- The creation of Reids Gold happened back in 2013 after Barry had been given a home brew beer kit for Christmas. This quickly turned into an obsession and he soon became discontent with ‘off-the-shelf’ brew kits so he began experimenting with different recipes. Barry didn’t stop there, using old beer kegs and a fridge turned-fermentation chamber, he built a 50 litre fully automated brewing kit in his garden shed! His engineering background, coupled with being a dab hand at inventing ‘things’ gave him the ability to create a small batch microbrewery with his own hands. Continuing his passion for perfection, Barry invited the Council’s Environmental Health in to inspect his set-up and it passed with flying colours! Fast forward to 2017 and Barry had upgraded his 50 litre set-up to a 300 litre set-up all the way to an all singing all dancing 500 litre system complete with a temperature controlled fermenter, in-house labelling facility and a bottling and keg station.

Over the past 11 months we’ve built a solid our working relationship with Barry and every time we’ve required more stock he was at our door within a few hours. We first met Kieren at the Affa Fine Market in Aberdeenshire back in September 2021. It was the first market that Devenick had exhibited at and Kieren could not have been more supportive. He shared his lowdown on which local and national markets would best suit our product offerings as well as what to expect at each one. Us lads being the new kids on the block this caring and sharing attitude was a welcome change to what Bryan (the other half of Devenick Drinks) and myself are used to within the oil industry.

In 2019 Kieren decided to create his own gin liqueur on the back of his love of making alcohol as well as a dream to own his own business. After several months of pulling the necessary paperwork together (coupled with some boozy taste tests I’m sure) he sold his first bottle of Ellon Gin at the Thainstone Christmas Market in December 2019.

Ellon Gin is a family run business based in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Kieren runs the business and makes the product whilst his wife Steph deals with the online aspect of the business. Their young son Hamish also contributes by providing them with the giggle factor which I’m sure is a great moral booster, especially on those days when things don’t quite go according to plan.…

Ellon Gin was one of the first suppliers on board at Devenick Drinks and the feedback for their gin liqueurs has been fantastic, and with a busy calendar for 2022 we’re hoping to increase our output of this great product

Since taking stock of Mad Bush’s G81 Pale Ale at the beginning of December 2021 it has literally flown off the shelf with over 100 bottles sold! On the back of that success we thought it would be good to hear from Lynne & Paul – the brains behind the beer!

Mad Bush Director Lynne has been a keen home brewer for many years and has been involved in numerous beer brewing competitions, one of which resulted in her winning a brewing session down at Drygate. This experience coupled with Lynne’s ‘Nicky Little Homebrew’ to commemorate Clydebank FC’s entry into the ‘100 goals club’ finally convinced her to put her brewing skills into production and just like that, Mad Bush was born!

After moving house in 2017, Lynne quickly uprooted a dying rhododendron bush in her garden and built a small brewing area in its place which is now the spot where her prototype brews are created! The success of the ‘Nicky Little Homebrew’ led to Paul, a lifelong fan and current Director of Clydebank FC to suggest creating an official beer for the club, resulting in G81 Pale Ale.

Using Lynne’s recipe, Mad Bush partnered with Burnside Brewery to commercially produce their G81 Pale Ale which has gone on to become a real favourite with the Bankies faithful as well as the general public. A similar deal was reached with Black Wolf Brewery to brew up a stout which resulted in the creation of ‘Dark Delight’ which was another successful recipe from Lynne. Plans are afoot to add to their core range in 2022 as Lynne and Paul look to establish Mad Bush as a top local brewer. They’ve both been blown away by the positive reactions to their products and can’t thank people enough for supporting them. The 3 of us over at Devenick Drinks firmly believe that this is just the beginning of Mad Bush’s journey and we’re delighted to be part of it!

We LOVE coffee and most of you LOVE coffee so we had to find some top shelf sh#t to sell.

During our search, it didn’t take long for the name ‘Pure Roasters’ to jump out! Within minutes of sifting through their website we had reached out with a friendly North Eastern hand (it was actually by email but details and all that) to the ‘Dumbarton Don’ who is one of the Directors at Pure Roasters. He came back to us with something along the lines of – “you give us your money, we’ll give you our coffee” (I may have slightly exaggerated this but again, details.…). Before you knew it we had a lovely sample box of Pure Roasters along with an ‘offer we couldn’t refuse’ (see what I done there??).

Since then we’ve already taken a re-stock of coffee from Don as it has proven to be pretty damn popular with our ever-growing customer base.

My best way to describe Pure Roasters would be: “The perfect coffee hit for the morning before, during and after”

OGV Taproom has been developed by the team at OGV Energy, a well-established media group (https://www.ogv.energy) within the energy industry. Through the growth and development of OGV Energy, both Director and staff members are lucky enough to travel to many different locations for industry events and brand development. It was during such travels that the team discovered a variety of craft beers and breweries across the world, sparking a desire to create their very own brand back home, in Aberdeen.

Us Devenick lads also come from the energy industry which meant that OGV’s beers were right up our street! The beernames (North Sea Tiger, Rig Pig, Blackballed, 6am Check-in, & Paraffin Budgie to name but a few), all have a tongue-in-cheek nod to the oil patch. They also come with the added bonus of not tasting like the ‘Becks Blue’ filled Xmas Days that so many of us have endured whilst working offshore! 

Not only are OGV providing quality tasting beers, they’ve just opened their very own Taproom in the city centre! Located at the former site of ‘The Garage’ on Windmill Brae, the Taproom has a very cool and stylish offshore theme and aims to offer an environment for business folk to conduct meetings, network or for the general public to sit in and relax with a nice cold glass of craft beer – bliss!

We recently teamed up with the guys at Cabezon Beverage to take stock of their Ron Cabezon Botanical Rum which was recently featured in The Scotsman newspaper in an article about 7 of the best Scottish rums on the market.

Ron Cabezon Rum starts its journey in the spiritual home of rum… the Caribbean and is mellowed for 5 years. The rum is then transported to the cooler climes of Scotland where we split it into two batches. One to macerate and the other -the home of the botanicals.

The batches are rekindled and blended to create a profile that is as fresh as it is familiar and will leave you looking forward to your next glass

Due to the ongoing requirement for face coverings we thought it’d be a good opportunity to showcase our branding, so we decided to plaster our name all over some sexy snoods. For this, we went to the ace team at XIC Design Print Digital and asked them to conjure up 2 designs for us.

The 1st snood design showcases the Devenick logo as well as a Stone Circle. The gate in our main logo has a significant meaning to the area as it represents the ‘Causey Mounth’ which was an ancient drovers road through Banchory-Devenick. Also used by local merchents to sell their locally produced goods, this road acted as a significant gateway to and from Aberdeen – rather fitting wouldn’t you say?

The stone circle design represents the ‘Auld Bourtreebush’ neolithic stone circle. It was 25 metres in diameter and is through to have been composed of up to 15 megalithic architectural elements, of which only four remain standing to this day.

The 2nd snood just has our main logo plastered all over it because why not…
